Case Study - City of Kingston Sustainable Business Program

Business Shaper was appointed by City of Kingston to deliver the Sustainable Business Program to assist small and medium sized business to develop the capability and know-how to implement sustainable business practices to reduce operating costs, improve materials and resource efficiency, build staff morale and enhance reputation.  

Participating companies were from a variety of industries including furniture, sports equipment and motor body manufacture, photographic laboratory and wholesale suppliers in food and beverage.

The program comprised the following

  • Program briefing: Raising sustainability awareness and introducing Sustainability Baseline Tools 
  •  Workshop 1: Building capacity of participants with respect to sustainability and developing the sustainability profile and business case for each organisation
  • Site visit 1: One-on-one support to validate sustainability performance, risks and opportunities
  • Workshop 2: Action Planning and development of initial sustainability communication
  • Site visit 2: One-on-one support to implement Sustainability Action Plans
  • Graduation ceremony: Celebration, awarding of certificate of participation and showcasing of results to date
