Greenhouse gases are accumulating in the atmosphere at a rate much more rapid than previously predicted a top climate scientist and member of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has warned. Chris Field a coordinating lead author of the IPCC Fourth assessment report says “we now have data showing that from 2000 to 2007, greenhouse gas emissions increased far more rapidly than we expected.” . Under the Federal Government’s proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) it will be impossible for local councils, small businesses, households, individuals or even state governments to play their part in reducing Australia’s greenhouse gas emissions post 2010. Read full story
