The Living LOHAS 2 report, the latest research publication from the Mobium Group, a Melbourne based consumer research company has predicted $22 billion will be spent in Australia on green products by 2010. With research showing that the Earth is now, on average hotter than anytime during the last 2,000 years the controversial ‘hockey stick graph’ used by the IPCC, has been proven to be accurate. Critics of the graph, which displays temperature variation back around 1,000 years have claimed that because it was developed solely from tree ring data, of which temperature is not the only variable, it was unreliable. As the likelihood increases that we are heading towards a global recession, some of the focus has shifted from the climate change/ sustainability agenda towards the current economic turmoil.
Some such as Woodside Boss Don Voelte and opposition emissions trading spokesman Andrew Robb believe that efforts to tackle climate change and the introduction of an emissions trading scheme should now be reprioritised, behind current economic issues. Read full story |

Incoming US president Barack Obama has pledged to significantly reduce the country’s greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. In a videotaped speech, played to a climate change conference containing over 700 representatives from 22 countries, hosted by Governor Schwarzenegger in Los Angeles, Mr Obama labelled this as a “new chapter in America’s leadership on climate change”.
