Nick Palousis
Nick is a partner for Business Shaper, with experience in sustainability and climate change strategy, risk management, business analysis and systems integration.
With qualifications in Mechatronic Engineering (First Class Honours) and Mathematical/Computer Sciences, Nick has managed a variety of Business Shaper projects in the Automotive, Insurance, Investment, Manufacturing, Oil & Gas, and State Government sectors. Currently his areas of focus include the development of organisational climate change strategy, strategic risk management frameworks and implementation plans to minimise risk and maximise business opportunities presented by sustainability and climate change.
Previous to Business Shaper, Nick was a founding member of The Natural Edge Project. During this period, Nick was involved in a number of projects related to education and training for sustainable development in the private and public sector, involving leading organisations such as the Rocky Mountain Institute, Natural Capitalism Inc., UNESCO and Engineers Australia.
In 2006, Nick was awarded the inaugural Southcott Scholarship, offered by the University of South Australia to undertake PhD research on sustainability in engineering and industry. Nick’s research involves the development of a risk management methodology for assessing and minimising sustainability business risks from designing and providing sustainable products and services.
In 2006 Nick was announced Young South Australian of the Year, in 2007 was awarded the British Council Eureka Prize for Young Leaders in Environmental Issues & Climate Change, and in 2008 the Australian Davos Connection’s Future Summit Leadership Award and UNESCO Adelaide Award.
